About Vereeniging Foundries

Vereeniging Foundries (Pty) Ltd is a privately owned company. It was established in 1964 initially as a cast iron and bronze foundry in the Vaal Triangle, which is situated 60km south of Johannesburg.

Today, more than 60 years later,  Vereeniging Foundries is one of the leading foundries in South Africa (see link http://castingssa.com/ vereeniging-foundries-reaches-50-year-milestone/. This modern foundry of 7200m2 is built on a prime industrial stand of 43000m2 with various modern offices under roof. Additionally four mini factories (2x440m2, 1x660m2 and 1x 830m2) are also on our premises. These factories could be used for future expansion e.g. machining, heat treatment, pattern storage, investment castings etc.

Currently we employ 8 office staff and 55 factory workers.

As in 1964, we today still pride ourselves in our quality products and service. We serve the mining,  agricultural, pump and general engineering industries and are proud to be approved suppliers to various large industries. Our customers extend throughout South Africa and we are members of the South African Institute of Foundrymen.

Company History

Company History

Vereeniging Foundries was founded in 1964 by Wilfried Kappmeier and George Whittal, who began the business as a jobbing ferrous foundry in the Vaal Triangle. What started from humble beginnings in rented factory space quickly grew as the business expanded into melting both ferrous and non-ferrous metals to meet broader industry demand.

In 1970, the company formally adopted the name Vereeniging Foundries and relocated to larger premises in Duncanville, Vereeniging. Over the years, the business has continued under family influence, with the founders’ sons joining and contributing to its long-term growth.

Continuous investment in technology and equipment, including modern sand preparation systems and sand reclamation plants, has enabled the foundry to improve productivity, expand capabilities, and meet the evolving needs of its customers.

Throughout its history, Vereeniging Foundries has maintained a strong reputation for quality, resilience, and service — outlasting many competitors over the decades and casting a wide range of components for the mining, industrial, and engineering sectors.
